Wetherbee Family Tree
The family tree
includes 14 generations of Wetherbee families (dates and places of births,
marriages, deaths, and burials) starting with John W. Wetherbee who was born in England.
He married Elizabeth Whale. She was born January 31, 1592/93 in
England. Their son John Wetherbee or Witherby emigrated from England
about 1672.
The name Wetherbee is derived from the Danish work, Weder, meaning a band or clan. By means home, thus the name Wetherby
(an old English spelling) means the home of the clan. The name is
prevalent in Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, and Yorkshire England which were all
areas ruled the the Danes during Medieval times. The name upon the
earliest
American records was spelled Witherby, but the present spelling has generally
prevailed for many years. The name is also spelled, Weatherbee,
Weathersbie, Wetherby, and Witherbee. Updated
